I. Disciplinary Procedures

i) Write-Ups
A write-up is a written warning that will be issued to any member of the 4th Marine Division who has shown a lack of self control in our server and/or other servers.
Infractions that will result in a write-up include but are not limited to Insubordination, intentional Team Killing, Disrespect towards unit members, Other members and acting in an immature fashion. If you receive a write-up, it will remain with you as long as you are a member of the 4th MD and may very well follow you to another unit if you choose to leave. Depending on the severity of your write-up, this could prevent you from receiving promotions or other types of benefits that are available to members of this unit. In addition to having a write-up you may be subject to more harsh punishments, i.e Dishonorable Discharge, Demotions and/or Suspension from the unit.

You do have the right to a fair hearing to appeal your write-up if you feel you were falsely charged. If you wish to do so you must first post a reply to your write-up stating your name, and why you feel you were wrongly accused. A format will be posted in the MP Section of the forums. After you post your appeal, you will hear back from your CO or XO either scheduling a meeting to discuss things further, dismissing your Write-up, or denying your appeal. You have no more than 48 hours to post an appeal after your initial write-up. If you have any questions, please contact the S-1 Officer or the MPC, Currently Sgt. A. Baker

Write-ups will only be set in stone if the CO or the XO of the unit choose to make it stick. Once they are there, there is no chance of having them removed.

ii) Discharges
If you are discharged from the unit it means you must remove your tags and you no longer hold the status of a 4th Marine. There are two types of discharges, which are honorable and dishonorable.

To receive a dishonorable discharge, you have been a neglectful and/or disgraceful member in this unit. Basically, you will be dishonorably discharged based on your write-ups. It only takes 3 write-ups or Demerits which are what you will receive upon being written up. If you are DD'd, you will NOT be allowed to rejoin the 4th MD.

To receive an honorable discharge, usually this means that you have left or have been asked to leave (retire) on good terms and chances of re-enlistment is higher. If you decide to leave for any reason (other than a DD) you must contact the CO or XO of the unit and explain to them why this is happening. You will have to post a Resignation letter on the forums as well, So that it is official.

iii) Marines Code of Conduct
A Marine should be showing self restraint and control at all times, in and out of our server. As a Marine you are to show a certain level of Maturity.
We will take action if this is not enforced, ESPECIALLY during Drills, BCT, Realisms and Matches. A Marine MUST show Discipline and respect at ALL times.

II. In-Game Procedures

i) Saluting
Saluting is a universal sign of respect in the realism community.

Bind <key> "say *Salute*"

You WILL bind this in your console. It should not take you 5 minutes to find the key so make sure you know the bind key well.

This means it is not just limited to 4th MD members. When you enter or leave a realism server you must salute any Officer(s) who are present. Officers hold the rank of Second Lieutenant (2Lt.), First Lieutenant (1Lt.), Captain (Cpt.), Major (Maj.), or Lieutenant Colonel (Lt.Col.).

An Officer will not and should not have to be the initial Saluter. As soon as you enter and see the Officer(s) you MUST Salute immediately.

If you enter or leave a server that has any officers present, you must salute them. In turn, they will show the same respect back by saluting you as well. Only the person who is entering or leaving the server, and the officer need to salute.


NCOs are not to be saluted. NCOs are any Rank below Second Lieutenant (2Lt). ex: First Sergeant (F/Sgt or FSgt) and the ranks below.

ii) Weapons Restrictions
Weapon restrictions will be enforced for your own good. The idea of restricting weapons is to give each member the chance to show us what they can do with certain weapons. Also, we want people to be skilled with Rifles (Standard Issue) because during realisms, they are usually the Dominating Weapon of choice. Weapon restrictions by rank are as follows:

* Recruits, Privates - Restricted to the Rifleman Class
* PFC, Lance Corporals - Restricted to the Rifleman and Assault Classes
* Corporals, Sergeants - Restricted to the Rifleman, Assault, and Support Classes
* Staff Sergeants- Restricted to the Rifleman, Assault, Support and Anti-Tank (Bazooka/Panzerschreck) Classes.
* Machine-Gun and Sniper classes must be qualified for by all except officers and selected Senior NCOs.
* Senior NCOs may use any weapon, with the exception of the Machine-Gun and Sniper Rifle classes, unless stated otherwise.
* Officers may use any weapon of choice.

iii) Permission to use (PTU)

Weapon restrictions are enforced, but a PTU can be used at certain times.
Officers or Senior NCOs are the only ones with the ability to GRANT or DENY PTU's.

PTU privilege by rank are as follows:

* Recruits - Unable to PTU
* Privates, PFCs - Must qualify with certain weapons to be able to PTU
* Cpls, Sgts- May PTU, but weapons qualifications will better your chances of being Granted to use said weapon.
* SSgts- May PTU, weapon qualifications will not be required.
* Senior NCOs- must qualify for MG/Sniper, but do not need to PTU after qualified.
* Officers are unrestricted.

**Using a Weapon without PTU or Qualifications MAY result in disciplinary action**

iv) Unit Tags
Unit tags MUST be worn at all times unless otherwise stated by an Officer. Failure to do so will give us the impression that you have resigned, That you are embarrassed to wear the tags or Do not wish to be a part of this Unit. Members, NCO's or even Officers that are found NOT wearing their tags will be subject to Disciplinary actions.

III. Out of Game Procedures

i) Forums
As a member of this unit you must stay up to date with all of the Units activities. Reading the forums is a good way to meet the other unit members and stay updated.

ii) Steam Friends
You are required to Add the Officers, Senior NCO's and NCO's of the unit. Adding the other members is advised. You never know when you may need to get a hold of someone. We have a section in UNIT INFORMATION that will have ALL members STEAM ACCOUNT names so that other members may add them.
The 4th MD also has a Steam Group for it's members. If you have not yet been invited please inform an NCO, Senior NCO or Officer and you will be invited to join.

IV. Conduct During Drills/Training/Realisms/Matches

i) Permission to Speak (PTS)
When you are at any drill, BCT, or realism and you are on the wall you must have your microphone silenced. However, you may type PTS in chat and when an officer or NCO that is in charge at the time grants it, you may open your microphone and speak. This is to prevent any interruptions of important instructions or information. Anyone may PTS during one of these events. HOWEVER, if you are going to PTS. MAKE SURE IT IS SOMETHING IMPORTANT. If you PTS simply to make an Inappropriate comment or something irrelevant you will be punished for wasting our time.

ii) Conduct During Drills/Training
At the start of every BCT or Drill you will join allies and immediately line up on the wall that has been designated by the Officer or NCO leading the event. While you are on the wall you should have your knife out, hand off the mouse, and your microphone should be silenced. You can request a PTS (permission to speak) if it is important. Anyone who kills or injures another player while lined up the wall will be immediately kicked from the server no questions asked. If it was an accident message the CO or XO on steam friends and you will be allowed back in. Continuing to do this will result in a Demerit or a more severe punishment.


iii) Conduct During Realism/Matches
Everyone is required to act in a MATURE manner during these events. Most of the time it is because we will be playing with other units and we don't want any of our members giving this unit a bad name.

Before the start of each realism team captains will be selected, and each of them will pick a team. While this is happening you must be on the wall with your knife out, your hand off your mouse, and your microphone silenced (PTS can be used). Once you are picked, you will join your designated team and WAIT IN SPAWN. Rules for the realism will be put in place before it begins as well. Rules for official matches will be determined long before the match even takes place (THIS IS WILL BE ANOTHER REASON TO BE ACTIVE ON THE FORUMS. TO STAY UPDATED). Failure to follow these rules, whether on our server or not, will result in disciplinary action.

If you join a server where a realism is taking place you must first join spectators. If the round has not yet started, you will be instructed on what team to join, but if the round has started you will need to wait until it is over to join a team.

V. Unit Procedures

i) Respecting your fellow Marines
This is one of the most important things you must learn. You WILL respect your fellow members, NCOs and Officers. It doesn't matter what rank they hold you must show respect at all times. Extreme Respect WILL be shown to your Officers. They have worked hard to achieve the rank they hold and as such should be acknowledged. It works both ways, an Officer or NCO will show you the same amount of respect as he is given. Just because they hold a higher rank does not give them the right to talk down to anyone else in the unit.

ii) Chain of Command
Obeying the chain of command is very important when you are part of a realism unit. If you are a Private you would bring the issue to your Squad Leader. If he cannot resolve the issue, it will be taken one step higher and so on until the problem is resolved.

Failure to follow the chain of command will result in disciplinary action.

iii) Officers and NCOs
As a member of the 4th MD you are expected to act a certain way and meet the expectations that come with Rank. EVERYONE is expected to act maturely during unit events. While we are pubbing you do not have to act as an Officer/NCO unless needed. You can mess around to a certain extent, but just remember, You are still an Officer/NCO of the 4th MD and as such you will be representing us.

As an Officer/NCO in the 4th MD you should know ALL rules and regulations as well as Conduct and Procedures. There will be a time that these knowings will be used in our activities. You are to make sure the server remains civil and not out of control. If you cannot live up to these standards you May/Will be demoted and stripped of your rank.

iv) Ranking System

Recruit (Rec.) - A raw enlistee, fresh meat. A new person to join up in the Airborne, ready to be trained. A total of 3 BCT classes must be passed before the recruit can graduate to the rank of Private.

Enlisted Ranks

Private (Pvt.) - The backbone of the Marines. This entry-level rank shows that you are one of the good ones, one of the men that survived the 6 day Boot Camp that separated the men from the boys. Privates can generally be found grouped into squads, under the command of a skilled Sergeant.

Private First Class (PFC) - The private first class has shown his ability countless times, and has proved himself on and off the battlefield to be extremely capable. The PFC is the creme-of-the-crop when it comes to the enlisted ranks, and are there to show the recruits and new privates the ropes, show them how things get done. If the unit needs a new NCO, the PFC would be first in line for those needed entry-level NCO positions. To obtain the rank of PFC, a Pvt must show a good track record, attendance and an overall urge to lead us to victory.

Lance Corporal (LCpl) - The Lance Corporal is similar to Private First Class in almost every way. The Lance Corporal rank was given to certain Marines for the outstanding ability to perform in the line of duty.

Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs)

Corporal (Cpl.) - The corporal is the entry-level NCO. His primary job is to be helping the Sergeant run a squad. The corporal usually has some leadership and combat experience, and can often help conduct training exercises, or make sure that those under him follow the rules. To become a Cpl., a PFC must have held his rank for a month, without demerits.

Technician, Grade 5 (T/5) - Shares all the priveleges of a corporal, without the command authority. Generally found in a staff position, under the eye of a higher technician. (Same prereqs as Cpl)

Sergeant (Sgt.) - A hardened leader and fantastic motivator, both on and off of the battlefield. Usually seen as a squad leader, the Sgt will often be trusted to lead his men in training exercises or to assist a senior NCO with large-scale drilling procedures. To gain the rank of Sgt., a Cpl. must have held his rank for at least 1 month, without demerits.

Technician, Grade 4 (T/4) - Shares all the priveleges of a sergeant, without the command authority. Generally found watching over the entry-level techs, and in higher-level management positions within the staff. (Same Prereqs as Sgt.)

Staff Sergeant (SSgt.) - The Staff Sergeant is a very able leader, and will generally assist a 2nd Lieutenant in commanding a platoon. The Staff Sergeant is expected to attend to the needs of his men, and will be the one to coordinate, schedule and often assist in leading platoon drills. To reach the rank of SSgt., a Sgt. must have held his rank for at least 1 month, without demerits.

Technician, Grade 3 (T/3) - Shares all the privileges of a Staff Sergeant, without the command authority. Generally heads or assists in leading the technical staff, watching over the Grade 4s and 5s. (Same Prereqs as Staff Sergeant)

Unit Appointed Senior NCO's (SNCO)

Technical Sergeant (TSgt.) - The Tech Sergeant will usually head the technicians in their duties, and will occasionally assist company and platoon commanders in coordinating drills and drill exercises. Only the most experienced of SSgts will be able to reach this revered rank, and all of the responsibility, prestige and respect that come with it. To reach the rank of TSgt, a SSgt must have held his rank for 2 months, without demerits.

Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt.) - A gunnery sergeant in the infantry is typically in charge of coordinating logistics for a company-sized group of Marines, or about one hundred twenty personnel. Junior gunnery sergeants usually serve as platoon sergeant for weapons platoons. A U.S. Army Sergeant First Class shares the same pay grade as a Gunnery Sergeant, but not the same responsibilities. A Marine Corps gunnery sergeant's job is to be the operations chief of a company of Marines.
Gunnery sergeants are commonly referred to by the informal abbreviation "gunny." This nickname is usually regarded as a title of esteem and/or cameraderie, and is generally acceptable for use in all situations except formal and ceremonial ones. Use of the term by lower-ranking personnel, however, remains at the gunnery sergeant's discretion. To reach the rank of Gunnery Sergeant a SSgt. or TSgt. must have held his rank for at least 1 month, without Demerits

Master Sergeant (MSgt.) - One of the most renowned ranks in the Army. There will be but 1 MSgt to a company, and the MSgt can coordinate and lead drills, he can assist the technicians, he can cover just about any Company job function, and he is there to motivate, lead, inspire and command all of the troops in a company. He is an extremely capable leader, easily one of the best, most valuable, most respected members in a company. To qualify for the rank of MSgt, a TSgt must have held his rank for 2 months, without demerits.

First Sergeant (FSgt.) - The First Sergeant is the highest NCO in the company. He will be found reporting directly to the Company Commanders, and is the absolute NCO authority within a company structure. Truly, to achieve this rank is worthy of extreme respect and admiration. The First Sergeant will have experience in just about every job and position in the Company, showing how versatile and valuable he is. To reach the rank of FSgt, a MSgt must have held his rank for 1 month, without demerits.

Master Gunnery Sergeant (MGySgt.) - is the ninth and highest enlisted rank (along with the grade-equivalent ranks of Sergeant Major and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps) in the U.S. Marine Corps. Master Gunnery Sergeants are staff non-commissioned officers (SNCOs), and are assigned a pay grade of E-9.
Master Gunnery Sergeants are sometimes referred to by the nickname "Master Gunns" or "Master Gunny." These nicknames are unacceptable in formal or ceremonial situations, and, at the rank holder's discretion, may also be unacceptable for use by lower-ranking Marines. To reach the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant, a FSgt. must have held his rank for 2 months, without a Demerit.


Second Lieutenant (2Lt.) - The Second Lieutenant is the entry-level officer rank. The 2Lt will usually be assigned to be in command of a platoon, and is very respected for his ability to coordinate and motivate the soldiers in his platoon. He reports directly to the company commanders, often giving status reports, and helping to make extremely important decisions that could affect both the Company and the Battalion. The amount of time someone has spent in the unit, the dedication, and the experience needed to reach this rank are worthy of praise and extreme respect. To reach the rank of 2Lt, a MSgt or a FSgt must have held their ranks for at least 2 months, without demerits.

First Lieutenant(1Lt.) - The First Lieutenant is either found as the XO of a Company or as a member of the Battalion Command Staff. The experience and dedication of the 1Lt is nearly unparalleled, and reaching this rank is worthy of respect and honor by every soldier. The First Lieutenant is one of the most capable leaders in the Company, and will often coordinate and lead company-based training, due to his ability to motivate and inspire every soldier he commands. To reach this rank, a 2Lt must have held his rank for 2 months, without demerits.

Captain (Cpt.) - The Company Commander, the CO. The Captain is either the highest officer in the company, or a high-ranking part of the Battalion command staff. A monumental amount of dedication and sacrifice are necessary for this rank to be bestowed upon a 1Lt. As a CO, the Captain organizes the events for his company, and makes sure every job gets done, whether by Squad Leaders, or Platoon Leaders, down to every last Private. The amount of responsibility placed upon the shoulders of a captain is almost unsurpassed, and just making it to this rank warrants one of the greatest degrees of respect possible. They've earned it. To reach the rank of Cpt, A 1Lt must have held his rank for 2 months, without demerits.

Major (Maj.) - The Major is the Battalion XO, the 2nd to the top. It's immeasurable how much a person has put into the unit. The Major organizes the companies, coordinates scrimmages against other units, and makes sure everyone gets their job done. The Major corroborates with the Lieutenant Colonel to devise ideas that are always in the units best interest. If the Major did not help found the unit, then the rank can be reached when a Cpt holds his rank for 2 months without demerits.

Lieutenant Colonel (Lt.Col./LTC) - This is it. The highest rank in the Battalion, the Battalion Commander. If a unit has made so much progress that a LTC comes about, the amount of respect due is immeasurable, because the LTC's dedication to the unit will never decrease, because he sacrifices himself for the betterment of the unit, and because he has done so much, he's worthy to receive more respect than any other officer, more than any other NCO or enlisted soldier. This rank cannot be reached, because the LTC is the Battalion CO.
